Poems for the Smiling HeartAudio file: The Pearl The Pearl© Photo courtesy of Zoé Alschuler I found a small, faded pearl in a bit of quiet water or under some thin sand. I can’t recall. But I do remember your smile. It pulled away the clouds and opened up my heart’s shell.
At times when a short wave of love flows over my mind I wonder if the tiny pearl is inside of me.
Sometimes I close my eyes and see you in the distance, your beckoning smile, your guiding footsteps in the sand.
This time I draw closer. You open your generous hand and offer me a shimmering pearl so spacious so infinitely majestic! Breathless, I take it with grateful fingers and the world becomes whole.
