Poems for the Smiling Heart

The Exact Space

In the exact space between the scampering of two red squirrels
a pine cone dropped to the ground
welcomed by the dying grass —
dying, but just for now.

In the exact space between dandelion puffs and robin wings
water dripped from a greying sky —
greying, but just for now.

In the exact space between a disquieting thought and a reluctant smile
a heart blossomed and beckoned.

Could it be that
grace
is stirring the world?
