A Candle is Lit

The evening folds around me
as I lift my face up to the stars
Heart filling
Mind drowsing
Spirit awakening

A skin of light slides and seals
the smooth lake water
fragrance of holiness
washes over the pines

Somewhere
a candle is lit
time-worn hands of gentle demeanour
come together
and quietly celebrate
the graciousness of life
